Booking & Quotes
How do I get a quote?
Select your items above and enter your pick-up and drop-off postcodes for an instant price based on distance, volume, and crew size required.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 1β2 weeks ahead, especially for weekends and month-end dates, which are our busiest. We do take last-minute bookings where availability allows.
Do you charge for the quote itself?
No β quotes are free and come with no obligation to book.
What's included in the price?
Your quote covers the van, the crew members required for your move (1β4 man crews depending on volume), and picking up your items from the pick-up address and transporting them to the drop-off address.
On the Day
What should I do to prepare?
Have everything boxed and ready to go before the crew arrives, disassemble any furniture you can in advance, and clear a path for access at both properties.
Will you dismantle and reassemble furniture?
Yes β if you'd rather not dismantle furniture yourself before moving day, our crew can take it apart at pick-up and rebuild it at drop-off as an optional add-on, for Β£50 per item, which covers both the taking apart and the rebuilding. Select the items you need this for in the "Dismantle & Rebuild Service" section when getting your quote.
What if there's poor parking or access at my property?
Let us know about any access issues in advance β narrow streets, permit parking, stairs, lifts, etc. This is factored into your quote via the floor level selectors.
Can you supply boxes, or pack them for me?
Yes. In the "Boxes & Packing Service" section you can choose Box Supply Only (our crew brings empty medium/large boxes with them on moving day for you to pack there and then), We Pack β Standard Items (our crew packs a box of everyday, non-fragile items for you), or We Pack β Fragile Items (our crew carefully wraps and packs a box of breakables such as glass or crockery). Please select the option that actually matches what's going in the box β fragile items packed under the standard option may be assessed and re-charged on the day.
Insurance & Liability
Is my move insured?
We hold Hire & Reward motor insurance, the legal minimum required to carry customers' goods on UK roads. We do not hold goods-in-transit insurance, which means damage to your belongings during the move is not covered by us.
Should I insure my own belongings?
Yes β we'd strongly recommend it, especially for anything valuable, fragile, or irreplaceable. Since we don't hold goods-in-transit insurance, your belongings aren't covered by us during the move. Affordable short-term goods-in-transit insurance is widely available from third-party providers.
Are there items you won't move, or that need declaring?
We're unable to transport hazardous materials or illegal items.
Do I need to declare high-value items in advance?
Yes β if you have high-value or irreplaceable items such as antiques, artwork, jewellery, or important documents, please declare these to us before the day of the move so appropriate care can be taken. We'd still recommend arranging your own insurance for these.
Do you have a weight limit on what you can move?
We can't safely move single items over roughly 50kg where they need to be carried up or down stairs, as this isn't something we're able to do without specialist lifting equipment. If you have an item like this, please let us know the weight and whether stairs are involved in advance so we can assess it with you beforehand rather than on the day.
What if something is damaged during the move?
As we don't hold goods-in-transit insurance, we're not able to cover the cost of damage to belongings during a move. We take care to handle everything professionally, but for peace of mind on anything valuable or irreplaceable, please arrange your own insurance in advance. In most cases, damage is unlikely if items are properly boxed, wrapped, or otherwise protected beforehand β items that are left exposed or unpacked carry a much higher chance of being scratched or damaged in transit.
Do fragile or delicate items need to be packed a certain way?
Yes. Items that are fragile or prone to damage β glass, mirrors, TVs, monitors, artwork, and similar β should be properly boxed, wrapped, or otherwise protected before our crew arrives. Items that aren't adequately packed are at a higher risk of damage in transit. If you're not sure how to pack something, ask us in advance and we're happy to advise. If you'd rather not pack it yourself, our We Pack β Fragile Items option is built for exactly this.
Pricing & Payment
How is the price calculated?
Pricing is based on distance between pickup and drop-off, the volume/number of items being moved, and the crew size required. A distance surcharge applies for moves outside the standard Edinburgh area.
When do I pay?
Payment is taken by card or Google Pay when you book. You'll see your full price before paying.
Do you charge extra for stairs or long carries?
This is factored into your quote via the floor level selectors when booking. Undisclosed access issues that increase the time or crew needed on the day may incur an additional charge.
Other
Do you move to/from outside Edinburgh?
Yes, we cover moves across Scotland and further afield. Long-distance moves are priced using our distance-based calculator.
Can I get help with just one large item?
Yes β we handle single-item moves (e.g. a sofa, wardrobe, or appliance) as well as full house removals, starting from Β£70.
